Kalamazoo is a city in the southwest region of Michigan, and is the county seat of the county. As of the 2010 census, Kalamazoo had a total population of 74,262.
Kalamazoo is home to several colleges, including Western Michigan University, a large public university, Kalamazoo College, a liberal arts school, and Kalamazoo Valley Community College, a two-year community college. Kalamazoo is home to major businesses in the pharmaceutical and medical science industries, and is also known for its importance in the world of music as it was the original home to Gibson guitars. Kalamazoo has also built a reputation as a major part in the American craft beer movement, as home to the well-known Bells Brewery.
