Holland spans the Ottawa/Allegan county line, with 9.08 square miles in Ottawa county and the remaining 8.13 square miles in Allegan county. At the time of the 2010 census, the population was 33,051, and is the largest city in Ottawa county.
Holland is known for its Dutch heritage, which serves not only as a part of the city's cultural identity, but the local economy as well. The Tulip Time Festival in May and various Dutch-themed attractions bring thousands of tourists annually. Holland is also home to the Holland Harbor Light lighthouse known as "Big Red", and De Zwaan, an original 250-year-old Dutch windmill, which is situated on Windmill Island, a municipal park.
