Caledonia is a village located south of Grand Rapids and in Kent County.  Caledonia was incorporated in 1888 and is located in mainly Caledonia Twp.  The village of Caledonia has a total of 1.41 square miles.

Caledonia has nine public schools.  Caledonia High School was built in 2004 and has an enrollment of about 1,250 students.  Glenmore High School is an alternative school built in 2006.  Other schools in the district are Kraft Meadows Middle School, Duncan Lake Middle School, Caledonia Elementary, Dutton Elementary, Emmons Lake Elementary, Kettle Lake Elementary, and Paris Ridge Elementary.   

Emmons Lake has an alternative school schedule.  They begin school in August, about three weeks before the rest of the district.  However, they have Fridays off during those three weeks and have an additional week off in October and February, receive a two week spring break, and end a week later than the rest of the district.  As a result they have the same amount of school days as the other schools. 

Caledonia’s sports teams are known as “The Fighting Scots”.  Their mascot is a fighting Scotsman who has a kilt and a sword.
